US Citizens
Multiple Entry Visas
Multiple Entry Visas are issued for a period of one (1) year and are renewable for similar periods to foreign citizens that engage in investment or business activities to periodically enter and exit Bolivian territory.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed Sworn Statement for Visa Application Bolivia Visa Application-Sworn statement for Houston
- Original Passport with at least 6 months of validity
- One recent 2″ x 2″ passport type photograph Passport photograph
- Fee of $200.00
- Current certificate of good conduct / background check issued by INTERPOL
- Legalized documentation of the constitution of the company that you represent in your country of origin or country of residence
- Certified photocopy of the Tax Identification Number (NIT) or original electronic certification if the company was established in Bolivia
Tourist Visa
Beginning on December 1, 2007, the immigration authorities of Bolivia will require US citizens to obtain a visa.
The Consular Section of the Embassy or the Consulates of Bolivia and exceptionally the Directorate General of Immigration through its land border posts and airport immigration control will issue tourist visas to all United States citizens.
The validity of tourist visas for United States citizen will now be of ten (10) years, allowing multiple entries
The admittance is for a period of thirty (30) calendar days extendable by request to the Directorate General of Immigration for two (2) similar periods; themselves that can be continuous or discontinuous in the period of one (1) year.
Requirements to Request a Tourist Visa for US Citizens:
- Complete the Sworn Statement For Visa Application Bolivia Visa Application-Sworn statement for Houston
- One recent 2″ x 2″ passport type photograph Passport photograph
- A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Bolivia, and contain at least one blank visa page.
- Copy of the hotel reservation or invitation letter from Bolivian friends or relatives indicating the host address.
- Round trip ticket or copy of travel itinerary
- Bank statement or equivalent that shows economic solvency. (A copy of Credit Card – front side- will also be accepted. Please note that the validity of the document should be for at least the travel period). Parent’s or Legal Guardian’s Economic Solvency documents are accepted for underage applicants.
- Visa fee: US$ 160.00
- The visa must be obtained at any Consulate of Bolivia prior to trip

Business Visa /
Specific Purpose Visa
Specific Purpose Visas are required for those who wish to travel to Bolivia for any purpose other than Tourism.
A Specific Purpose Visa is required by those who intend to engage in business, education, paid work, to get married according to Bolivian law and any other legal activities not related to tourism.
Specific Purpose Visas have a validity of 30 days and are renewable, after submitting a request for extension to the immigration office in Bolivia. When applying for one, an introduction letter is required which should state the specific purpose of the travel, the dates of travel, and that the expenses will be furnished by the sending or hosting company or institution. These requirements apply to business executives, film crews, missionaries, voluntary workers, etc.
For certain nationalities authorization from the Immigration authorities in Bolivia is required, in which case the application takes longer to be processed. It is recommended to allow at least 2 to 3 weeks prior to departure.
Applications can be made during the office hours (Mon – Fri 09:00 am – 3:00 pm) which can also be made by mail. The fee of $85.00 can be paid by Credit Card or money order payable to the Bolivian Consulate. It is recommended to use the safest way to send your passport, either registered delivery or courier. The costs of delivery are met by the applicant and no responsibility is taken by the Consulate if the passport gets lost in the post.

- One recent 2″ x 2″ passport type photograph Passport photograph
- Fee of $85.00
- Letter of introduction explaining purpose of travel, means of subsistence and information on the company or institution
- Photocopy of ticket or itinerary
- Bank statement or equivalent that shows economic solvency (Please note that the validity of the document should be for at least the travel period)
- Certificate of good conduct / Police Record
IMPORTANT: Incomplete application will be returned without being processed
- state the nature of business to be performed;
- include the name and address of the company to be visited;
- guarantee sufficient financial support during visit; and
- guarantee return transportation to the US for the applicant.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR GROUP II AND III
Changes for Countries in Group II
- There is no Tourist Visa fee for citizens from countries in Group II
- Visa must be obtained at any Bolivian Consulate before traveling
- For Specific Purpose and Student Visas, the fees remain at $85.00 and $43.00, respectively
Additional Requirements for Countries in Group III
- Certificate of Good Conduct / Police Record from the applicants country of origin, translated into Spanish or English if applicable
- Notarized Letter of Introduction or Letter of Invitation
- Yellow Fever Vaccination, if visiting endemic areas
- The Tourist Visa fee for citizens from countries in Group III is $30.00
- Visa must be obtained at any Bolivian Consulate before traveling
- It is subject to approval from the Directorate General of Immigration of Bolivia, the processing time is between 3-5 weeks
- For Specific Purpose and Student Visas, the fees remain at $85.00 and $43.00, respectively
Non-US Citizens
Tourist Visa
- A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Bolivia, and contain at least one blank visa page.
- Fully completed and signed Bolivia Visa Application-Sworn statement for Houston
- Passport photograph
- Copy of itinerary showing round trip travel.
- Copy of US Alien Registration Card (Green Card) or proof of visa status in USA.
- International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever Required if a Arriving from an infected area with 5 Days.
Business Visa
- A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Bolivia, and contain at least one blank visa page.
- Fully completed and signed Bolivia Visa Application-Sworn statement for Houston
- Passport photograph
- Copy of itinerary showing round trip travel.
- Copy of US Alien Registration Card (Green Card) or proof of visa status in USA.
- A business letter of introduction and financial responsibility is required to be typed on your company letterhead and addressed to: Embassy of Bolivia, Visa Section, Washington, DC. This letter must be signed by a company officer other than the traveler, and should:
- state the nature of business to be performed;
- include the name and address of the company to be visited;
- guarantee sufficient financial support during visit; and
- guarantee return transportation to the US for the applicant.
