Visa Requirements

US Citizens

US Citizens and permanent residents of the US are not required to obtain a visa to enter Canada. Proof of permanent residence is required. (i.e. Green Card or I-551 stamped into passport)

Citizens from countries other than the United States (U.S.) who do not need a visa to enter Canada will need to obtain an eTA before flying to Canada. Travelers do not need an eTA when entering Canada by land or sea. CANADA ETA LINK

Non-US Citizens

Tourist Visa

  1. A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Canada, and contain at least one blank visa page.
  2. Fully completed and signed Canada Visa Application
  3. Two (2) passport photographs
  4. Proof of funds available to support yourself and dependants during your stay and enable you to leave Canada, such as a bank statement, pay stubs or proof of employment or proof of travelers checks
  5. Proof of status in USA (Original I-94, Student Form I-20, etc…)
  6. Copy of Airline Tickets or Travel Agency Itinerary
  7. Proof of employment (copy of check stub or letter from employer)

Business Visa

  1. A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Canada, and contain at least one blank visa page.
  2. Fully completed and signed Canada Visa Application
  3. Two (2) passport photographs
  4. Proof of status in USA (Original I-94, Student Form I-20, etc…)
  5. Copy of Airline Tickets or Travel Agency Itinerary
  6. A business letter of introduction and financial responsibility is required to be typed on your company letterhead and addressed to: Embassy of Canada, Visa Section, Washington, DC. This letter must be signed by a company officer other than the traveler, and should:
    1. state the nature of business to be performed;
    2. include the name and address of the company to be visited;
    3. guarantee sufficient financial support during visit; and
    4. guarantee return transportation to the US for the applicant.

Fees

In addition to the standard Iratex fees, the following non-refundable consular fees apply:

Single Entry – Tourist Visa$55.00 per visa
Multiple Entry – Tourist Visa$110.00 per visa
Single Entry – Business Visa$65.00 per visa
Multiple Entry – Business Visa$130.00 per visa

Visa Information

Citizens and residents of certain countries require additional formalities that may require a personal consulate interview and/or 2-4 weeks to the processing period.

Your application will be checked and hand carried to the Canadian Embassy; normal processing time is approximately 72 hours.
