Tourist Visa
A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Nigeria, and contain at least one blank visa page.

Nigeria now requires that you upload your Driver License or Passport plus a copy of your credit card or debit card statement in order to pay the consulate fees.
SUMMARIZED STEPS ON HOW TO FILL OUT ONLINE VISA APPLICATION
STEP 1:
Go to Nigeria Immigration website at: https://portal.immigration.gov.ng CHOOSE NEW YORK
STEP 2:
Select Entry Visa/Visa Free Zone
STEP 3:
Click on Processing Country, select United States
STEP 4:
Click on Start Application
STEP 5:
The application is on the Inovate1 Services website. Please log in with your existing Google email or Yahoo email account, otherwise select the open ID option and create an account for the application process
STEP 6:
After logging in, start the application process and register your account with Innovate1 Services
STEP 7:
Choose NEW YORK office as your processing office
STEP 8:
Please complete the form and click on the SUBMIT button, then print out the entire form (seven pages in total)
STEP 9:
Once the application has been successfully submitted you will be provided with an application ID and reference number
STEP 10:
Using the Application ID and Reference number, please proceed and make the VISA FEE PAYMENT with your debit or credit card. Fee is based on nationality and validity.
STEP 11:
The consulate processing fee is $65.00 paid by Money Order only. If you want 5 days processing in New York a separate Money order of $30..00 is required.
STEP 12:
Please print out your Visa Payment Slip and Visa Acknowledgment form
STEP 13:
Print and bring all documents to IRATEX.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGERIAN TOURIST and BUSINESS VISA
All visa applications and payment of fees are to be made through the Nigeria immigration Website at https:portal://immigration.gov.ng. CHOOSE NEW YORK
- Current Passport (with at least 6 months validity)
- Completed visa application form
- Confirmation of online payment from web site and the email they send you
- Two Passport photograph
- Letter of invitation from host company or individual, accepting full immigration responsibility
- Data page of host Passport
- Confirmed Hotel reservation, if the applicant is not staying with host.
- Evidence of funds to cover stay in Nigeria (letter from bank or Employer letter of support etc.) Copy of recent bank statement in your name that indicates sufficient funds for travel
- Holders of non–US passports must provide proof of legal residency (photocopy of green card)
- Copy of airline ticket or flight itinerary.(WHERE APPLICABLE).
Business Visa

Step One
Visa e-Application Form, (fully completed ONLINE.)
Note: Follow the step by step online instructions. Your application must be submitted online and the appropriate Consular fee paid for by credit card online. When confirmed, Please print a copy of your “Visa Acknowledgment Slip” “Visa Payment Slip” and Payment receipt from Google Checkout, then mail all three to IRATEX for processing. Failure to fully complete the visa application form will delay processing the visa.
Step Two
- Submit your U.S. Passport (must have at least 6 months remaining validity)
- Completed application confirmation will be E-Mailed to you from Step One above.
- Confirmation of online payment from web site and the email they send you
- Two Passport photograph
- Letter of invitation from company to be visited in Nigeria. Letter of invitation from Host Company, in Nigeria, accepting full immigration and financial responsibility as well as stating purpose of visit (and duration of stay)
- Religious visitors and missionary workers will require pre-approval from the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nigeria
- Copy of round-trip airline tickets
- A business letter of introduction and financial responsibility is required to be typed on your company letterhead and addressed to: Nigeria, Visa Section, This letter must be signed by a company officer other than the traveler, and should:
- state the nature of business to be performed;
- include the name and address of the company to be visited;
- guarantee sufficient financial support during visit; and
- guarantee return transportation to the US for the applicant.

Visitor Visa

- Data page of host Passport. Copy of his/her Nigerian passport (first four pages)
- Confirmed Hotel reservation, if the applicant is not staying with host.

In addition to the standard Iratex fees, the following consular fees apply:
Using the Application ID and Reference number, please proceed and make the VISA FEE PAYMENT with your debit or credit card. Fee is based on nationality and validity. After on line application is completed proceed to the payments section and make the payment. Be sure to print out confirmation of payment and attach to the application. Bring proof of payment with you for us to process.

This Consulate is Closed on Fridays
Visa Information
The Nigeria tourist or business visa is usually issued for entry within three months of the issue date provided the passport remains valid, for stay of 7 to 90 days.
NOTE: Visa applications for clergy or persons traveling for any Church-related purpose, should be accompanied by approval letter from the Nigerian Department of Immigration.
Applications for minor children under 18 years of age, if not accompanied by both parents must also submit a letter of consent from the parents.
