Visa Requirements

US Citizens & Stays Less Than 30 Days

US citizens do not need a visa for tourist or business travel to this country, but a valid US Passport is required.

Any US citizen who wishes to travel to Romania for any purpose other than tourism or business negotiations (e.g. work, study, adoption, immigration, or stays longer than stipulated in the entry requirements) should contact the embassy or nearest consulate directly.

Non-US Citizens & Stays More Than 30 Days

Tourist Visa

  1. A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Romania, and contain at least one blank visa page.
  2. Fully completed and signed Romania Visa Application
  3. Passport photograph
  4. Photocopy of Alien Registration Card (Green Card)
  5. Photocopy of round-trip airliner tickets or itinerary

Business Visa

  1. A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Romania, and contain at least one blank visa page.
  2. Fully completed and signed Romania Visa Application
  3. Passport photograph
  4. Photocopy of Alien Registration Card (Green Card)
  5. Photocopy of round-trip airliner tickets or itinerary
  6. A business letter of introduction and financial responsibility is required to be typed on your company letterhead and addressed to: Embassy of Romania, Visa Section, Washington, DC. This letter must be signed by a company officer other than the traveler, and should:
    1. state the nature of business to be performed;
    2. include the name and address of the company to be visited;
    3. guarantee sufficient financial support during visit; and
    4. guarantee return transportation to the US for the applicant.

Fees

In addition to the standard Iratex fees, the following consular fees apply:

Single Entry$35.00 per visa
Multiple Entry$70.00 per visa

Visa Information

Note: An official Invitation is required for some nationals, see below for information.

The Romania tourist or business visa is usually issued for a single entry for a period of 3 months from date of issue, given the passport remains valid for a period of stay in Romania not to exceed 60 days. Multiple entry visa can be issued on request, consular fee $70

Citizens of the following countries are required to present an original official invitation issued through the Department of Immigration and Passports in Bucharest in order to obtain a visa:

Democratic Congo, Cote D’Lvoire, Djibouti, Dominican Rep, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Equatorial Guinea, Fiji, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Rep., Guyana, Haiti, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Korea-North, Laos, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Morocco, Maldives, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mongolia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sri-Lanka, Sudan, Suriname, Syria, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zambia.
