Visa Requirements

Passport holders from 41 countries and 1 special administrative region – Hong Kong SAR – are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 30 days on each visit.

If such foreigners enter the Kingdom at the immigration checkpoints which border neighboring countries, they will be allowed to stay for 15 days each time, except Malaysian nationals who cross the borderline from Malaysia whose granted period of stay will not exceed 30 days each time.

Please note that Tourist Visa Exemption does not apply to foreigners holding Travel Document for Aliens issued by these countries. Foreigners entering Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption category must possess adequate finances for the duration of stay in Thailand (i.e., cash 10,000 Baht per person and 20,000 Baht per family).

(****)Thailand holds bilateral agreements on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, official and ordinary passports for a visit of not exceeding 90 days with Brazil, the Republic of Korea and Peru.  Therefore, nationals of these 3 countries are exempted from visa requirements and are permitted to enter and stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 90 days.

Due to the requirement of the airlines in the United States to the travelers, it is advised as follows:

  1. For the US passport holders and other countries, which are in the tourist visa exemption list, they are advised to confirm the return airline tickets within 30 days, both arrival in and departure to Thailand.
  2. If the duration of arrival in and departure to Thailand on your confirmed return airline tickets is more than 30 days even though you plan to stay in Thailand not more than 30 days, you need to apply for a tourist visa.

 

Tourist Visa

  1. A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Thailand.
  2. Two (2) fully completed and signed Thailand Visa Application Form – 2018
  3. Two (2) passport photographs
  4.  A copy of recent bank statement or evidence of adequate finance ($700 per person and $1,500 per family) Please white out your account number. Please white out your account number.
  5. A copy of round-trip ticket or  Flight itinerary
  6. Copy of Driver’s License
  7.  International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever if arriving from an infected area within 5 Days.
  8. If other than a US Passport provide a copy of your Green Card or valid US visa stamped in passport with original I-94 card and a copy of your airline ticket or flight itinerary

Business Visa

  1. A valid, signed US passport. The passport must have at least 6 months remaining after the completion of your stay in Thailand.
  2. Two (2) fully completed and signed Thailand Visa Application Form – 2018
  3. Two (2) passport photographs
  4. If other than a US Passport provide a copy of your Green Card or valid US visa stamped in passport with original I-94 card and a copy of your airline ticket or flight itinerary
  5.  A copy of recent bank statement or evidence of adequate finance ($700 per person and $1,500 per family) Please white out your account number.
  6. Letter of Invitation from the reference in Thailand.
  7.   A copy of round-trip ticket or Flight itinerary
  8. Copy of Driver’s License.
  9.  International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever if arriving from an infected area within 5 Days.
  10. If traveling for business, provide a letter from your employer stating the purpose
    of the trip and guaranteeing financial responsibility. For Multiple entries, the letter must state that multiple entries are required. AND the letter must state the following  “I affirm that Mr. Smith is a current employee of XYZ Corp located in Fort Worth Texas, and that he  currently resides in the United States of America and has signed the application for the attached business visa in our presence. “

A business letter of introduction and financial responsibility is required to be typed on your company letterhead and addressed to: Embassy of Thailand, Visa Section, Washington, DC. This letter must be signed by a company officer other than the traveler, and should:

  1. state the nature of business to be performed;
  2. include the name and address of the company to be visited;
  3. guarantee sufficient financial support during visit; and
  4. guarantee return transportation to the US for the applicant.

Fees

In addition to the standard Iratex fees, the following consular fees apply:

Tourist Visa $40.00 per visa
Business/Non-Immigrant Visa, 1 Year, Multiple Entry$200.00 per visa

Non-Immigrant Visa – business  3 months validity

$80.00 per visa
Transit Visa, For Transit Only. Proof of Onward Travel Required$35.00 per visa

Holders of passports from Cambodia, any Middle East Country and any Communist Country, must apply at the Thai Embassy in Washington DC.
